I was almost someone in another life, and now I am here
to finish what they did not follow through.
I am running late for sunrise. Up early for a mouthful of worms
not from the can that I ordered but the one that was delivered.
At least I am eating.
They say the first thing we do when we enter a room is fill it
with our energy. That the fear is always changing just enough
to keep you on your toes.
That is how I find myself with my pants down in the bible belt.
Wondering if this is what prison is like in paradise.
If there are mosquitoes in eden. If they too get the itch.
I am learning that the rainbows are invisible until
you’ve caught up with the dawn. That the final stage
of waking up is mourning all the sleep.

All of this is part of what’s hiding
