Frank Zirbel is a self taught artist, rock musician (aka Mental Insect), and filmmaker. He graduated from University of Wisconsin-Madison with a B.A. in philosophy, became the bass player for the Chicago new wave band Bohemia in 1979, and has since had artwork featured in more than 70 group and one-man shows. Frank’s art uses representational imagery within stylistic modes of figurative expressionism and classical surrealism. He lives in Avondale, Chicago, and has a storefront art studio at 3034 N Milwaukee Ave.
