Give Me Drugs, Brittany
by SAMUEL PLAUCHÉ
“Come on, Brittany! Aren’t you supposed to be a drug dealer? Give me drugs! Look, I’m here as a client, not your fucking lover, okay? Just sell me the blow now. I hit you up for coke, not some domestic argument. You’re trying to yell at me about our relationship and how I’m a dog and a fiend. Oh, I’m a dog? I’m a fiend? You can’t call me that. Maybe if I was coming to you as your boyfriend, then you could call me that. I’m not here as your fucking boyfriend though. I’m here as your fucking client. Treat me as a fucking client. I don’t want that lovey dovey shit right now, I want some goddamn drugs. Can’t I get some goddamn drugs? No, don’t try to hold y hand! Quit that shit! Listen, I can do that tomorrow or once I get high, but get me high! I’m here with cash in hand, Brittany. I’m a buyer, not a lover.
“Listen, I know this may all seem harsh. I am sorry for how harsh I’m being right now. It’s just you’re really pissing me off. Seriously, I’m not wanting this right now. I just want drugs. In fact, you know what? You know what? Put a coat on. You look really hot right now and it’s driving me mad. I’m not here to fuck around. Yeah, put this winter jacket on. Put some pants on too. I don’t wanna see your legs. You may as well wrap your entire head up too. You have really nice hair and a gorgeous face. Put a hat on. I’m your customer, not your lover right now. I can’t see it. Wrap yourself up. We need to be ugly right now. NO SEX! Not until I’m high, at least. Okay, can I have my drugs now? Hey! I told you no hand holding! Not unless there are drugs in them! Come on, Brittany, what’s your problem? You’re supposed to be a dealer, so deal! Deal to me!”
“Okay,” said Brittany.
Samuel Plauché is a poet, journalist, and prose writer based in Chicago, IL. Influenced by his upbringing in rural Washington, his lived experiences, and travel, Plauché’s writing offers not an analyzation but a playful dance with love, loss, halfhearted attempts at defining “freedom,” and various other paradoxes (his favorite word) set deep within dark forests, crowded city streets, or the highways between. He has been published in CommuterLit, Black Poppy Review, and Mementos CHI. His novels As The Rain Falls and BANDIT are available for purchase on the Raging Opossum Press website, the publishing house he runs, or various Chicago bookstores like Tangible, Quimby’s, and Citylite.
